Beth Cherry for Danville School Board, Center Township
My name is Beth Cherry and I am running for a seat on the Danville School Board. I have lived in Danville for 37 years and attended Danville community schools until graduating from high school in 1990, where I was fortunate to have some of the best teachers and principals whose influence left a lifelong impression. I am married to Chris and we have a daughter, Zoe, who just started 5th grade at Danville Middle School.
With the goal of wanting to understand the decisions made on behalf of our children, I began regularly attending school board meetings 2 years ago. After much thought and consideration, I decided to run for a seat on the school board to work toward:
- Building upon the strong foundation established and continuing to enhance and elevate the learning environment for all children in Danville schools.
- Developing current efforts to improve the transparency and thoroughness of communication with parents, and our community as a whole.
- Moving forward and determining the best ways to meet the financial needs of Danville schools.
Both my husband and I work in the Danville community. I have been an Administrative Assistant with a local law firm for the past 4 years. Prior to that I was an Administrative Assistant for the Danville Chamber of Commerce for 3 years and an Office Manager for a family-owned engineering firm for 16 years.
I have been an active volunteer in our community for over 20 years. Some of my volunteer roles include board member and coach for the Danville Youth Soccer League, coordinator at Mary Queen of Peace Parish for Family Promise of Hendricks County, active member of Danville Tri Kappa and active member of Danville Junior Football and Cheer board. I look forward to the opportunity to put my experience and service to work for our Danville schools.
